A small borough in northwest Bucks County, Quakertown was originally settled by the Religious Society of Friends, or Quakers, in the 18th century. A combination of events, including national economic expansion and the Civil War, changed the face of Quakertown, transforming it from a tiny village to a manufacturing center. The town produced a number of goods, including cigars, silk, harnesses and stoves until the early 20th century. Quakertown is a rather large community in terms of population, with 8,855 residents as of the 2015 census. As of the 2010 census, Quakertown had a median household income of $41,932.
